Warning for Sunblock Users!

Just a friendly word of caution about the dangers of sunblock. Stick to 30 spf and under when purchasing sun protection. Do not use use anything higher than that. The chemicals found in those spf’s contain known carcinogens. The FDA has continued to allow manufacturer’s of the these products to put people at risk. Europe and Canada have banned these ingredients years ago. The chemicals in these products are causing more cancer than the sun.

Mineral powder is an exellent choice for sun protection , they are water and sweat resistant. Also very good for sensitive skin and inflammation.

Key West Aloe Co makes a very good sunblock for scuba divers so it really is waterproof. I will be carrying this line of sun protection soon. It is safe and natural but not organic.It is quite budget friendly.

We all need to have a clean, safe spf and also one that won’t cause acne or rosacea flareups.

For those who can afford to and choose to use organic I offer Eminence Organic sunblock for face and body.

Don’t forget to use plenty of moisture in the summer and keep the aloe on hand for accidents. Shea butter is very good for burns and is a natural sun block. It is also very healing and high in hydration.

Waves Of Color Hair Studio at U4ia!

The secret is out and the wait is over ! Lynn Silverman and Carol Schwartz have opened up a beautiful, private hair studio called Waves Of Color. They are coming from Jasmine plaza and have been styling hair in this neighborhood for 18 years. The studio is absolutely gorgeous and like the nail salon is located in a private suite. Lynn also does the permanent makeup here at U4ia. She has a large portfolio and lots of experience and references. Now U4ia is a full service spa and salon.

U4ia has organic sunblock 32 spf

Most sunblock on the market has a stew of toxic chemicals that are actually banned in Europe and Canada. In fact anything over 32 spf is the worst offender. The best advice is to apply  organic sunblock every 2-4 hours. If you are going scalloping wear a lightweight neoprene dive skin . I do and it has literally saved my skin. For the face ,I apply the tropical vanilla spf 32 and then layer the sun defense mineral powder over that. The sun defense minerals are highly water resistant. They are also infused with fruit for antioxidants for further protection.

What does authentic treatments mean?

I am asked this quite frequently so I decided to share the awnser with all of you. When a therapist advertises a service or therapy and calls it by a specific name , he or she is claiming to have knowledge of or be certified in this modality. Sometimes specific products are involved also. Two good examples of this are LaStone therapy and Raindrop therapy.

The creator and originator of hot stone massage teaches the method and it is formally called lastone.  Only a certified practicioner is allowed to use this trademarked  name. This is how you ,the client can identify the real thing from someone who has never had any formal training . The possibility exist that you can get burned from the stones or receive a terrible or mediocre hot stone massage. A person who is advertising this service by name will have a certificate and you are certainly entitled to ask to see proof .

Raindrop is both a treatment done in a specific manner and the authentic treatment uses only Young Living essential oils to perform the real thing.

Unfortunately it is common for spa’s to offer a service and hire staff who have no training or to substitute cheap products.  The best way to avoid a poor service or an unsafe one is to ask to see the credientials of the person who will be doing your treatment. Most of us hang our training certificates on the wall to provide you with the assurance that you will be getting what you paid for!!!!
